According to Kockel,
villas. 46, 48, 49, 51 were known to him only through CTP. The character of the
compilation implies errors, also in the estimation of the sometimes very small
remains.

Scavi, presso Stazione Circumvesuviana
a Porta Nola
Pompei, scavi probabilmente privati, non documentati, del dopo guerra,
ca. 1960, che misero allo scoperto una fattoria con diversi [9] dolia con bollo
di Primogen(is), sul labbro
del dolio, e L. Corneli, sul coperchio. La villa rustica era ubicata fuori
Porta di Nola, a ca. 200m a nord-ovest della stazione Circumvesuviana, poco al
di sotto la cosiddetta Casa dei Pecorai, a poca profondità rispetto al piano di
calpestio, dove nello spiccato di una cameretta, con canaletto lungo la parete
orientale ed appoggiato ad esso vi era un dolio con i suddetti bollo. Il
rinvenimento casuale fu subito bloccato dalla SAP. La lettura dei bolli del
dolio, fatta alla data 11 marzo 1960, fu pubblicata da Giordani Casale nel
1990. Nella Coll. Laurentina, Roma, ho trovato ben
sei fotografie inedite di questo dolio che pubblico per la prima volta (fig.
320, a-f).
Pompeii, probably private, undocumented excavations of the
post-war period, ca. 1960, which uncovered a farmhouse with several dolia [9] with
the inscription Primogen(is), on the lip of the dolio, and L. Corneli, on the
lid. The rustic villa was located outside Porta di Nola, ca. 200m north-west of
the Circumvesuviana station, just below the so-called Casa dei Pecorai, a little below ground level, where in the
prominence of a small chamber, with a gully along the eastern wall and leaning
against it, there was a dolio with the above-mentioned
stamps. The accidental discovery was immediately blocked by the SAP. The
reading of the dolio stamps, dated 11 March 1960, was
published by Giordano and Casale in 1990. In Coll. Laurentina, Rome, I have
found six unpublished photographs of this dolio that
I am publishing for the first time (fig. 320, a-f).

L. Cornelius Primogenes
Secondo Stefani, nel 1964 Halstead B van der Poel vide un legame tra i
nomi sui due francobolli e l'ipotesi di Della Corte che la Casa di Meleagro
fosse di proprietà di L. Cornelius Primogenes. Il sito potrebbe
tuttavia anche essere non una fattoria ma una fabbrica di dolia appartenente a
tale personaggio ma al momento non vi sono dati per avanzare detta ipotesi non
conoscendo la posizione e quindi la funzione di tale dolia. Inoltre, allo stato
attuale delle conoscenze, non si ha alcun motivo di ritenere che il bollo sul
dolio - Primogen(is), e
quello del coperchio, - L Corneli, si riferiscano ad un unico produttore, anzi,
gli altri esempi noti do tali bolli sembrano escluderlo.
According to
Stefani, in 1964 Halstead B van der Poel saw a link between the names on the
two stamps and Della Corte’s hypothesis that the Casa di Meleagro was owned by L.
Cornelius Primogenes. However, the site could also be not a farm but a dolia
factory belonging to this personage, but at the moment there is no data to
advance this hypothesis as we do not know the location and thus the function of
the dolia. In addition, in the current state of knowledge, there is no reason
to believe that the dolia stamp - Primogen(is), and
that on the lid, - L Corneli, refer to a single
producer, indeed, the other known examples of such stamps seem to exclude this.
